I'm looking at two similar "Death Star" groups for a few upcoming matches next month;

Flavor A)
Land Raider Crusader - Extra Armor
Assault Terminators - 5x TH/SS
Librarian - Terminator Armor w/ SS, Sanguine Sword, Shield of Sanguinius (Powers subject to change.)
Chaplain - Terminator Armor (May be a waste of points here. But the 2+/4+ ain't too bad...)
Sanguinary Priest - Terminator Armor
--Weighs in at 815 Pts--

Flavor B)
Land Raider Crusader - Extra Armor
Librarian - ^Same as above.
Chaplain - Power Fist
BA Honor Guard - 3x Power Weapon/Storm Shield, 1x Power Fist/Storm Shield, Chapter Banner
--After plugging it into Army Builder, it also happened to weigh in at 815 Pts--

Well, there they are. I'm just looking for advice on which I should go for, if either. The Land Raider can Deep Strike, of course, so there's that. Otherwise, it'll trundle up towards the biggest threat... I like the idea of both flavors having Feel No Pain and almost all 3+ invulnerable saves to shrug off the heavy stuff.

So, flavor A is pretty straight-forward. My only worry is the majority of the units hitting at Initiative 1. B on the other hand, while having a weaker armor save, has the banner which adds +1A for everyone, power weapons @ I5, and enough power fists to bring the bigger stuff down.

It'll be a hard unit to get rid of, but I see the biggest downfall being the Crusader getting popped early on and the unit having to weather their way across the board.

For support, this Land Raider is going to be supported by two Baal Predators and probably a Furioso, if I can find the points, while the troops follow along behind, wiping up where necessary.

Any suggestions? Thanks!

The first one is the better choice - that is going to be one tough nut to crack. However, Shield of Sanguinius is a waste when your entire unit has a better invulnerable save. I'd suggest taking Might of Heroes or, possibly, Unleash Rage instead. Might of Heroes so your librarian could get another D3 attacks with that Strength 10 whompin' stick, or Unleash Rage so that if you get charged, or get bogged down - a big threat to deathstars - you'll be hitting, and thus wounding more often. Everything else looks good. :)

Probably give the Chaplain a Power Fist, though. Since it doesn't replace the Crozius, you can decide which to attack with - an I:4 Power Weapon or an I:1 Power Fist.

I was thinking of SoS to use for unit/vanguard forces while the Land Raider was on its way across the table. I'd use the smoke launchers when there was more of an imminent threat, but would be hoping I could get lucky and roll some 5+'s to hopefully get the termies where they need to go. Remember this also extends to units 6" from the edge of the LR's hull. So I could (with luck) be protecting my escorts with it.

I thought about Unleash Rage, but thought the Chaplain would have made this power redundant, but wasn't thinking about if I was bogged down or charged. That does sound pretty viable.

As for Might, while coupled with Sanguine Sword does sound delicious, that also means I'd have to take the Epistolary upgrade, which is more points than I think I want to sink into this already-unfriendly unit.

So I'm thinking one "my turn" power and one "their turn" power so I'd be able to keep using him. So it could very well become Rage as my defense.

Will require playtesting. :)

Mmm, if I take him out of his Terminator shell (as he can't take a PF in that mode) that's definitely an option. Cheaper, too. He'll just have to pretend he's a walking tank amongst his larger brethren.

3+/4++ FNP vs 2+/4++ FNP isn't much different.
