Hey out there....
Does anyone have any good suggestions for alternative models for Ogryns?
I'm thinking of trying out a squad as part of an IG army, and the GW models are too ridiculously expensive to consider buying. I know I can use something else as a proxy, but I'd like something that looks the part.
Has anyone out there found a less expensive model that would work?
Thanks,
Brent
some people seam to like to convert ogres from warhammer fantasy into ogryns (they use the weapon-team heavy bolter as a base for the gun).
ogryns are basically ogres with big guns :D

Ogres to Ogryns is your best bet. There aren't any cheaper models that I've found, and I've been looking hard :(

This guy is from my FLGS, and links this on Dakka occasionally. Don't think he'll mind if I provide it here. . .

Whatever you do, don't listen to the chumps that will tell you how useless and crap Ogryns are!
My Smurfs have been on the receiving end of many an Ogryn charge by my regular opponent and I always find myself thanking the Emperor they can't take power weapons! They can dish out the hurt, take a hell of a lot of punishment, and are fun to play, with, and against. Best of luck for your project.

These'll be funny for renegade ogryns:

You could remove the worms and such and just make them normal ogryns...

Privateer Press has some new models that would be just dandy as ogryn, check 'em out:

I actually did a few back about 2 yeras ago converting ogres to ogryns including a bone 'ead with bionics.
Funny enough one of the first tutorials going up on my new blog will be how to make the ripper guns as well as the bionics.

The tutorial is going up today on how to make the ripper guns if anyone is interested, as well as more pics of the completed unit.

wow. And they aren't specifically meant for use as ogryns, are they?;)
I mean- Ogruns? with those guns that look just like ripper guns? nah, it can't be.

Hey out there.... Does anyone have any good suggestions for alternative models for Ogryns? The current Ogryn models are certainly cost-prohibitive when it comes to buying a squad of them. $22+ for one model when you need 5 to 10 to use them in games is ridiculous.
I built my Ogryns back in 2006 using plastic Ogre Bulls and some ripper gun arm bits. Of course, you can't buy those arms any longer, but making them from bits of other guns in the plastic GW model range, like Loota Deffguns and the like wouldn't be that difficult. Good luck.
