As I keep promising, here finally are some pictures of my Warlord; Dalion Dao.

It isn't quite finished yet, though it's generally done enough to use in games. I made it primarilly from recycled extruded polystyrene (which i had a huge amount of when I started making it) with cardboard, with a PVC tube skeleton and a nice heavy pine base to keep it nice and stable on most hills most miniatures will stand on.

As you can see, it is a little on the large side. Originally I'd scaled my design to be about 32" tall (approximately the right scale by the picture in the Apocolypse book) but as I built it, it kind of grew. Now it would stand about 48" tall if it weren't squatting, thanks to the skeleton moving while the glue set :(

Nice size comparison shot. You can also see both volcano cannon arms in this shot, where as the previous pic had the titan close combat weapon I've also made for it. The weapons are simple friction fit, so can easilly be taken off (good for transport) and so that I can give it different weapon options later on.

As a quick point, I think that might be the largest sword in 40k. Can anyone provide any other examples that might beat it? It's a little over twice as long as a Baneblade!

Slightly better pic of the sword. The carapace weaons are a missile, which works nicely as either the Apocolypse Missile Launcher or the Vortex Missile, and a double barrelled weapon whcih I usually use as a double-barrelled turbo laser, but could just as easilly be almost any of the other carapace weapons.

On the back of the base (which I appear to have not taken any pictures of) I have made a pair of spinners, similar to those on the bases for Aeronautics Imperialis, which allow me to easilly keep track of how many void shields and structure points the titan has left. If anyone else does this, I reccommend putting a 0 position/number on the void shield spinner. I only put 1 to 6, and it can get annoying.

As always, comments and critisisms welcome, and more pictures are availible in my facebook album;

This seems a tad of an onesided apoc battle...

I still remember when that priest with an eviscerator killed it...

to be fair, before i turned up the necrons were heavilly outnumbered and outgunned. Not long after, the necrones ran off (little kids had a home time lol), and I was significantly outnumbered. And then the other side were given a load of space marines to boot :P

All told i was against the odds for most of the game, and surviving became the objective (which i failed lol)

I dont like it. I'm not gonna go into details (unless you'd ask me to) because it appears useless to me to write a 2-3 page long critique on a model some other person has invested time and dedication into without beeing asked.

In a nutshell the various problems could be summed up as "It doesnt look more like a warlord than any other two-legged, two armed robot with shoulder weaponry tacked onto it."

By all means have at it, well except the terrible squatting position :P and do remember that it isn't finished yet.

Though I'd have to say that given the number of different patterns GW has produced models for, not to mention the hundreds of others that their art deptartment has illustrated, I would like you to clarify your comment of it not looking like a Warlord... Seems GW has no specific idea as to what they look like. As many other people on various different threads have said before, each Warlord is built individually as the penultimate act of worship and idolotry to the Omnissar (with the Imperitor being the ultimate, and even more unique of course). The concept that they have to look the same, or even conform to specified patterns within a single forge world sounds rather daft to me.

I can understand that it pose is a bit wrong, and as its not finished its a damn good effort. I have designed one myself, but having the time and effort to make one is impressive. So dont knock it to much unless you can do a better job (and that means doing it, not just saying that).

I also agree with sotonshades that all the titans are individuals, and their are lots of patterns, i personally prefer square based legs instead of all the curves. But it is impressive that he has it built. And can always now add all the deal, and redo weapons as i guess they all come off.

xas you need to stop knocking everyones work. At least say its impressive to have built it, if you dont agree with the overall finish
