You may have seen the work in progress pictures of this model on another thread but as a Primarch I thought Magnus deserved his own thread.

This is meant to be Magnus in the heresy era, i.e. before he turns fully to chaos and becomes a daemon prince.

Magnus isn't that easy to represent on the battlefield as his description has quite a few different elements to fit together. I was trying incorporate the following from the Thousand Sons book (no doubt I have misread some of it, and I think I green stuffed over the wrong eye, but never mind):

One eye, but not cyclopean just like one eye is missing.
Red hair
The book of magnus
Ebony horns rising from his chest and shoulders ( I made the chest horns parallel rather than sticking out so that they were less prominent).
A cloak of irridescent feathers.

I think he looks reasonably like the description and the cover of the book:

I have him rising on a pillar of energy to increase his size and show his powers. He now towers over mere regular space marines.

You are correct, Sir. Wrong eye, but other than that, it looks great! My one criticism is that you should perhaps highlight the horns on his chest just a little bit. I had to look twice to see them. That'll also give a bit of visual interest to his otherwise blank torso.

Great conversion though, looks like you had a lot of fun doing him.

IMO, the scarab could stand out a little bit more as well. i had to look twice to see it, and only noticed it after the WIP photo. putting a finite size to magnus is a bit like getting a tzeentch tattoo, though. every time magnus is "on-screen" in the book, ahriman keeps noticing how he can never really pick out one true size for magnus because he keeps representing different heights. still, the whole thing is better than i could manage

looks cool!
Have to say that I didn't notice the horns on his chest until I read what you did and did a 2nd glance.
I'm sure that it's much more noticeable in person than via online.

Overall, I dig it.

Personally I would've put the chest horns more to the front so they don't impede his arm movement. But for the rest looking ace...
