Heres my newly complete Cult of the dragon army (bar basing!). Ia Ia Fhtagn Void-Dragon!

I always wanted to do an adeptus mechanicus army, and I bought the micro-arts studio iron brotherhood ones because I loved the models SO much, but it took a year or two before I actually had an idea of what I wanted to do with them. I didnt want to do generic admech, and dark mechanicum have been done...and with my love of Necrons it seemed only natural to "attempt" to do the legendary cult of the dragon itself! I know my skills arent perfect but I tried my best, So I hope you enjoy the pictures.

I hate to put a damper on such an awesomely well-painted army, but if you read through the Horus Heresy book "Mechanicum" you find out that the Cult of the Dragon is responsible for keeping the Dragon entombed in Mars...they don't worship it.

This is an amazing looking army, and I love the idea behind it.

Fantastic as usual, though the High Priest is a little too insubstantial for my taste.:)

Awesome! Always good to see some AdMech, and that's a cool theme.

And what better way to keep it entombed than to use its own technology against it?:) Unless maybe I missed something, (which is more than possible,) he didn't state that this cult worshipped the Dragon, so I can easily see them as doing their best to keep it under control.

I like the work you've done on this. Very characterful, and I can see how they might come into conflict with anyone they think is trying to raise the Dragon. With their Xenos tech, they would be condemned by the Imperium, but they would see their work as holy, striking from the shadows and protecting the Imperium from destruction. They would see themselves as unsung warriors, who must fight and die condemned as traitors, so that the rest of the Imperium will never know how great their sacrifice truely is.

In fact, given the political structure of the Imperium, I can easily see the Cult as being covertly sponsored by the highest echelons of the AdMech, as deniable assets in their double goal of discovering the secrets of technology and keeping said secrets away from everyone else.

The models are fantastic. I think you've done an excellent job with them. Any chance of more pictures, maybe of them in a battle report?

Oh, they arent the same cult as the ones from mechanicum. They do worship the void-dragon.

I have plans to turn it into a full apocalypse army in time.

army1 will be void-dragon themed necrons. I plan to make a Conversion kit that includes scaled armour pieces that slot on the backs and replacement weapons which are also scaled and have an open serpent head at the end of the gun-barrel. I always seem to get tons of necron army ideas, perhaps because a lot of people say they are boring and there isnt much to do with it, and I love proving people wrong ;)

second army is this cult army.

and the third part will be an "essence" of void-dragon. I'm still getting ideas down for that, but it will likely go further with the techno-lovecraftian theme, probably some giant mechanical Shoggoth type construct. I may use the SOTA Dagon as a base model :
