I heard that was the way she was going.
Rather sad state of affairs.

lul, how is the nose section of a military plane useful to battle fleet Gothic fans.
O.o
Is this aircraft carrier only sold to recycling companies or can you buy them for restauration/private/corporate usage?
Hell imagine the stuff you could do with such a baby... even the civilian possibilities in commercials/promitions are endless!

If she ain't going to a museum, she should be sunk and left to RIP. At least it ain't Ark Royal.... :(

Just gimme the mockup Harrier. Think-running Harrier flight sim software with a wraparound screen and modified cockpit controls so that they control the simulator. AWESOME!!!!!

Not an option when the country needs funds sadly, her scrap value is greater then her value as a museum piece since she's not in a serviceable condition (she was largely stripped to keep her two sister ships serviceable). With the Ark Royal at least theres a reasonable chance she might be sold to another navy as was the Hermes after the Falklands.
As for getting rid of the Ark and the Harriers - leaving us without CV's or Aircraft for the new ones when they enter service.... don't get me started.

I'm half considering asking a bank manager if i can get a mortgage to bid on her. Find a nice patch of water somewhere wher I can permenantly moore her. Hire out the Flight Deck for parties in the summer months, strip out and sell most of the innards for scrap (well, what's left) and convert her in to a lovely home. Of course, anyone will to help me raise the funds would be more than welcome to come use the flight deck for some insane Apocolypse games!
There is actually a tournament in San Francisco California that is on the deck of an old Aircraft Carrier... Pretty Awesome! Also, I just hit "buy now," it said 5.9b and I assumed the b stands for bucks, right?
