This is my first block of 40 Marauders with MOK and Great Weapons. The GW are made from the flails with the chains cut off and heads from various axes from the marauder and marauder horsemen set. I will be creating 40 more marauders armed with hand weapons and using them in four 10 man squads for flanking and distracting the enemy.

Thanks and yes. Unfortunately, I always find that I cannot field an unpainted army let alone one that is not painted to my liking. Makes for an awful amount of time to field an army but I enjoy the painting probably more than the gaming. I tried to do dips and other tricks and just do not like the results. So far I am working on this Chaos army (see my warriors in a previous post), a High Elf army and a Cygnar base set. I want to field the Chaos army by the end of December....

Nicely done. I'm in the process of completing a unit of 50 of these guys myself and it's a daunting task. I am a bit surprised that you stuck with the old Marauder heads, after converting all of the GWs, swapping the heads with the infinitely better Mounted Marauder heads would have been a breeze.

I totally agree but I spent way too much for the Marauders already (given that I have 80) and I didn't want to spend the extra for the horsemen heads. Like you, I really hate the old heads and at $7.99 USD @ the Warstore for 8 horsemen heads, the units were becoming way too pricey. I needed the extra money anyway to add a Hell Cannon to the list....

That's completely understandable, that price is a bit steep. I was lucky and had a bunch left over from my Marauder Horse boxes, plus friends that used them for Space Wolves and had extras. I've built and painted 4 Hellcannons in the last few months (sold 3 of them) and it's not as bad as I was led to believe, although a towel and hammer works wonders on the barrel itself :D. Looking forward to seeing yours.

Thanks again for the comments and I just received our first Hell Cannon. Looks challenging with a lot of pinning and as you mentioned, some barrel "fixing." I will be putting this together over the next few weeks and hopefully will have it done over Christmas. I am working on the Knights, the Banner for the warriors, and our champion (the Games Day Chaos Champ from a few years ago). I just finished a set of hounds and I am not sure we we will actually use these but they came with the battalion box. I will probably try these out in a small point game as "flankers." Unfortunately, I am also working on the Fortress of Redemption from 40k and this is taking up some of my time. I modified the fortress to match my Black Templar army. Anyway, I will post them up here when I finish them.

Some reall nice models.

I love the contrast between the models and the bases, really brings out the colour.

Well done.

Thanks and I got a real deal on a GW game board last year from the War Store and did it in an ash / night world theme. Since then, all our bases for our armies both 40k and fantasy have been and ash looking. It is easy to paint to especially in batches. I use a Black undercoat (red for the warriors but I will not do that again) and apply codex followed by fortress gray using a drybrush technique.
