So I have a lot of CSM and Khorne berserkers in the plain plastic phase for a long time now because I just couldn't settle on how I wanted to paint them, but now I think I have and I was hoping that you masters of plastic and paint could give me a few pointers.

First off I'll tell you my made up little bit of fluff for the army so you can get a better feel of them.
Have you ever been in one of those bad moods when you hate to see anyone being happy? When laughter is like nails on a chalk board? Well thats how my chaos space marine army is like 24/7. When ever happiness dare shows its smiling face in the 40k universe they are there to snuff it out. How dare anyone be happy in the grim dark future! My CSM army is heavy on Khorne berserkers (Some would say I have TOO many, HA!) and I've decided to have them led into war by Kharn the Betrayer! Just so you get a feel for the madness of my army he is going to be accompanied by berserkers so he never has to miss a skull in combat, and the guys who roll with him are just happy to offer themselves to Khorne. These berserkers are going to be following a line of vindicators ino battle so lots of BOOM!

Second I'll let you in on how I think these fellas look in my mind.
Im thinking lots of barbed wire, ash, and debrie. I want my guys to have some razor wire wrapped around their armour. I also want them to be covered in freshly fallen ash and debrie like they are just walking straight into hell! I want the regular CSM's armour to be a real dark grey charcoal color to make the razor wire and ash POP. The zerker's I want the same except some subtle red where needed. Then Kharn just coverd from head to toe in blood!

Third and most important is where you the reader come in and save the day!
-I need lots of razorwire any suggestions?
-How do I get the freshly fallen ash look on the models short of smoking over each of them?
-What's the best way to do the blood all over kharn while still showing armour through? I also want some bloody muddy shoes.
-If you have anything you think would go with my idea of the army then I would love to hear it!

The easiest I've seen is to buy plastic net and cut one row of the net and leave a litle of the intersecting rows.
It would look something like this.

Curl it up around a thin rod and glue it to the base of your miniature.

For lots of blood on a model I build it up in layers from almost brown to final patches of blood red.

For really thick Gore rather than blood use the red ink out of a biro. Be VERY careful with this, it won't mix with water or dilute and is very hard to get off if you make a mistake. However when used properly it looks fantastic. Test it out first on something else till you get the hang of it.

I used this on the blade claw of a classic rat ogre and it worked out really well I'd post pics but it's in a different country

Someone once mentioned to get good, cheap, easily accessable "blood" is to break a red ink pen and use the ink itself!

That would be me.

A great simple easy way to get a blood splatter effect is to use a cheap toothbrush (the stiffer the fibers the better) Dip the top in red paint or ink (biro ink won't work, its too sticky) and brush the top of the brush, this will send the paint flying and give you a great splatter effect
