So in a week I'll be making my once a year convention trip to Milleniumcon. There they will have several companies that sell 25 & 28mm armoured vehicles from all eras both real and not. So I figured it would be a good time to pick up some proxies for my Steel Legion counts as Elysian drop troops list seeing as I now have the book for it. However I have a problem.

I have only a vague idea of how big both the Tauros and Tauros Venator are but not the exact sizes. Basically I know they're smaller than a rhino, with the Tauros being as wide, but not as tall.

If Possible could someone here who has the amazing Forge world models give me some sizes in inches so that when I'm looking through AFVs for a good Armageddony replacement I'll not get something to small nor to big?

If you do I promise to name the squadron leader after a name you remind me of when I get them painted.

go to WWW.Old Crow Models .com to see if they have what you're looking for. they have some stuff that would fit for your drop troops

They are TINY. My friend got the Venator on the weekend, and width and hight wise it will easily fit in the back of a valkyrie, and length wise it's only slightly longer. I can imagine the 4 wheerler will easly fit completely inside a valkyire. A rhino dwarfs it.

The Venator is slightly less than 4" long and slightly more than 2" wide, and to the highest part of the turret is 2" tall.

Been eyeing the old crow models for a couple months now. But there's a couple other manufacturers out there who make either WW2 armoured cars or modern/near future four and six wheeled AFVs that could also serve. My personal preference is to use a WW2 armoured car of either british or german design as I feel they fit in with my sentinels better. And since those same vehicles will be at the convention it's a good time to get a hands on look at what I might use.

@ mark thanks for the dimensions. Those and a SL trooper will come in handy at the con.

Primarily I'm looking at these. http://hobbyarmordepot.homestead.com/index.html

THe smaller one i know is smaller than a valkery hold...that was one of the design things they strove to achieve in its design...be able to drive out the back of a Valk.

This would be a good start for a Venator proxy. Old Crow Goanna. 4" long.

And this one for the smaller Tauros Assault vehicle. Old Crow Gecko. 3" long.

I use the closed top version of the gecko (#2) as a sentinel stand in for my rapid response IG units.
(With a Small turret with autocannon, lascannon or missile pod on top).

Here are a few good scale pictures:

An easy way to see exactly how they 'size up' with other 40k models.

Just gotta say it: I like much of the Old Crow stuff more!! Crow>Valk, Goanna>Venator, Claymore>Chimera.

Yes if I don't find anything more suitable in a nearby price bracket I'll end up with the old croww toys. Just need some Razorback turrets to make them venators and I'm gold.

But, to me they don't scream Steel Legion. Maybe it's the lack of rivets and excessive angles.
