With the new DE book, with each unit that can take transports it simply states may take a transport from pg xxxx.

Does this mean I can take venoms for squads too big to simply use as gun boats? as it seems theres no limit on transport based on squad size.

Yes, yes it does.

actually no you can't, check out p.91, the blurb under the dedicated transports title, it clearly states that a transport may not be taken for a squad larger than its maximum capacity.
