If you could Progress the story.

If you could progress the story line of your favorite race in 40K who would it be and how would you do it? Would you have them keep trotting along the same line they've been going or would you have them do something completely out of left field?

I would do the Tau's progression, mainly farsight. I would touch on how farsight had been fighting the orks so much and exiled from other tau that he and his force had slowly started to behave as orks, fighting in close combat at first then making repairs to there war gear using scraps from whatever they can find, then even taking trophies of there kills to be used as scare tactics. I would have farsight die and have a new Shas'O take up the Farsight persona and dawn blade. The new farsight would realize how much like there hated enemy they had become and come to the conclusion that to best your enemy you must become your enemy. He then goes on a quest like a roaming samurai testing other methods of battle and adopting it in with his. In his travels he fights Noise marines and adds sonic weaponry, He fights necrons and starts a collective downloading of his army’s soldier’s minds so that artificial bodies can be filled with veteran fighter’s minds after their original bodies had expired; He fights against Dark eldar and starts using poison weapons. He also would love to be able to use psychic abilities but his people don't have that power so he searches on for a way that they could so he builds a psychic searching device and attacks worlds of psychic significance abducting psychers.

It turns out that there were a few Homeworlds spared, and the Squats have slowly regained a decent amount of power near the galactic center.

The Squat's inner hatred for the Tyranids have festered a deep seed of vengeance that can only be emptied into the center of the Tyranid Hive Fleets. The Squats have made it their sole mission to find Tyranid Fleets, and gut them from the inside out.

-The Blood Angels finally fall to chaos, or at least half of them do.

-Abbadon & Co. straight up make it through the Cadian Gate and head for Terra.

-The Emperor either dies, or simply vanishes off the Golden Throne, and the Imperium is plunged into civil war. Several different possible "Star Childs" (Star Children?) are born, and each has backers, including SM chapters. Talk about your good fluff reasons to have Black Templars battling tooth-and-nail against Imperial Fists, or Ultramarines and Tau trying to really kill Space Wolves allied with Eldar..

Blood Angels.

Hive Fleet Leviathan's tendril is finally stopped during an epic battle on Baal that leaves enough Tyranid biomass behind for the planet to begin regrowing vegetation. Ka'Bandha's army is routed but undestroyed, and it sets a direct course for Terra. Dante himself leads the Blood Angels and their Successors in pursuit, resulting in a cataclysmic battle reuining an entire planet. Dante banishes Ka'Bandha, only to be slain by the demons that followed the abomination. Corbulo, at this event, is assault by a nightmarish vision of Cadia in flames with a Chaos force unparalleled since the Horus Heresy en route for holy Terra; he is accompanied in this witnessing by every psyker at the planet, and every psyker in the sector can hear the psychic scream of pain from those witnessing the sight. Gabriel Seth assumes control of the coalition, coordinating the Chapters' resupplying and repairing procedures even as the call is sent across the Imperium for all military forces to dispatch whatever they could towards Terra and the Eye of Terror and the coalition itself begins rushing to the Emperor's aid.

(The Sanguinor is to be revealed in the aftermath of the next epic battle, whether on Terra itself or elsewhere. beyond this, I don't feel I have decent claim to write.)

WIN!!! Me and a friend actually played a game with Chuck Norris his stats were maxed out and it was him versus a nurgle and khorne CSM army. Soooo much fun.

Blood Angels _ Mephistion falls to Chaos, probably Khorne what with all the killing power he now has (cant say we didnt see that comin), and takes the flesh tearers with him after gutting seth like a fish.
Civil war breaks out in the chapter leading to Dantes heading for terra beliveing that its his destiny to be the golden armoured warrior defending the Emporer, just as mephiston is about to kill the Empore, Dante turns up and it all kicks off.
Mephiston ultimately wins and tears the Emporer from the golden throne taking his position and using his augmented pschic ability to open the gates to the eye of terror and allow a mass invasion of all the chaos gods. He then takes the Emporers body and tosses it into the eye of chaos.
The Sanguinorturns up and plunges into the eye of chaos after him, just as the last vestige of the emporers power slips from his body, it transfers to the sanguinor who is remade as the the emporer MK2 but because hes still basically a blood angel at his core he's much more of a kill first question later kinda guy

not really sure how it plays out but i suspect it involves Abaddon geting whooped and Emporer MK2 setting himself up as the uber god
