Hi all!
Wonder if you can lend a bit of help, I've got a Tiger Shark and I need to get it put onto some kind of flying stand, it's a big bit of kit so gonna need something that will support it well. Now, I'm new to all this but how do I get the thing up and running?
Any advice and construction pics would be great.
Thanks all.

I'd either say use greenstuff to sculpt a "+" shape slot for the flying base. Alternativly useclear plastic/perspex rods...maybe one in both wings, or in the middle.
Drill into the resin and the base and slot it on the stand..
Assuming you want a clear stand that is! How heavy is the Tiger Shark?

I brought a flying base thinking it would be ok, however because the Shark is top heavy (not sure to its weight) I think I would run the risk of it snapping or something. I like the idea of clear rods though, can I get these from somewhere like 'Homebase' or is it down to an online shop? I really don't know why ForgeWorld don't already drill a hole, it wouldn't hurt them...its alot of money and if I mess it up I will be most upset.
Thanks for the feedback though.

If you're British (like myself) I get rod from here http://www.hobbyplastic.co.uk/rod-67-c.asp . Never could find any in hobby or DIY stores. If American or elsewhere i guess they ship, or you could find something more local. Make sure you get it thick enough or it can bend easily, if not snap. If in doubt anchor it in two places, or even three if its too big.
For my Eldar Phoenix and 2 nightwings, and soon my Remora Dronesfor my Tau, i drilled into the thickest part of model (somewhere central so it balences) with a drill bit a hairsbreadth thinner than the rod to give it a good fit. I then got good big, thick resin bases, drilled through the thickest bit of them and slotted it through. I can post pics if you need any more help on it

Thats great, Thank you!
This will aid me well in getting this kit of the ground and the website is just what I need. I feel somewhat confident now that I've got a good idea of what to do, so many thanks again.

The base is a simple plaque purchased from a local Craft Store (In this case, Michael's) the Acrylic Rod is from the wonderful world of eBay. The 'screws' you see are a piece of threaded bolt (Cut to length) and it screws into a 'female' screw which is glued into a drilled hole in the model.

The Acrylic Rod is drilled and the bolt is mounted to it. This is the only difficult part! Take your time or get someone to assist you with it!
The TigerShark is a very HEAVY model (in weight AND in pounds, ha ha ha) make sure your base is large enough so it won't topple over and secure the model well!

You may also want to consider using two bases, one on each side. This prevents the model from tipping over quite as easily. The base on a flyer has no gameplay function, so do whatever is most practical. It doesn't need to be a particular size or anything.
My friend recently got a Tigershark and likes having two bases for stability. He's considered adding a third support to the front because he would be devastated if the model fell over and broke, and he plans to game with it pretty regularly.

Not sure how two stands can make a model any more sturdy....
This flyer (Ork Stealth Bomber) has two bases.

Or is there some other way -Something that I'm not seeing/understanding?
