Thanks Mach. I think that style of mottled red would look just sinister on Blood Angels >:)
Ok I read his post about painting, but unfortunately he didn't say which red he used for the base coat, only that he used a heavy Baal Red wash over the base red.

Howdy folks,
I did a post on how I do the red for my Thousand Sons which can be seen here:
http://mordian7th.blogspot.com/2011/09/heresy-era-thousand-sons-youve-got-red.html
The short version of the process is this:
1) Dark Flesh basecoat
2) Red Gore drybrush all over, leaving some Dark Flesh showing through
3) Blood Red drybrush on the upper edges leaving the lowest edges in just Red Gore (quasi zenithal lighting technique for the lazy, heh)
4) Wash it all with Baal Red
Easy peasy! I use a pretty beaten up old tank brush for the drybrushing stages, which on the larger flat plates lends itself to a somewhat mottled, stipple-y look when the two lighter reds are combined. The Baal Red wash tones it all down afterwards so it's not super obvious that it's just ham-fisted drybrushing. :D
I really enjoyed painting the Falchion, Machinator did an absolutely stellar job with the build (and is the creative genius behind most of the heresy-era vehicles I have in the army)!

very cool, thanks for the tutorial!
Ive been painting minis since 1989, and this is the first ive heard of a wet palette. How exactly does that work?
And I get the double rinse, except I use rubbing alcohol as a second rinse to remove tje rest of the paint particles.

Here are some shots of the two (of course) Alpha Legion Fellblades in action during the Big Game II. All photos courtesy of Marw at the Apocalypse40K forum.
The painting isn't done yet -we just had to do a tabletop standard for this game.

Thanks.
I haven't seen anyone doing the interior of a Fellblade, but a guy in Adelaide, Australia (I forget his name) did an awesome Land Raider with interior light back in 2000 (or even prior to that).

Through my involvement with 40k, i've always loved Grey Knights most. Now that i have roughly 5000pts worth of them, i would love to include a super heavy from the founding of the first chapter (others were legions back in the day)
Yet, I cannot quite say how i would like this 'center piece' to be. Given the fact that the greatest daemons are gargantuan creatures, it would only make sense that GK would have a titan (from Titan :D ) to go toe to toe with one.. Or, if staying true to the uniqueness of the DreadKnight, it could be a DreadTitan (a gargantuan mechanical creature piloted by a Grey Knight (or a squad of them) Able to rip anything apart it comes in contact with, and carrying both apocalyptic psychic skills and other weaponry.
Or, other thing I have visualised a bit is that it could be a sort of 'Fellblade' (possibly on a stormlord chassis) , with a two transportation compartments to achieve the following:
- On the first compartment you could store x amount of troops; this would work as a 'traditional' transport compartment
- The second compartment could include, say up to 10 Grey Knights; this could be the psychically resonating chamber to affect the strenght / RoF of the mainweapon based on the units size and psychic mastery level.
For example: Base STR 8 AP ? Heavy 5, with 10 GK Strike Squad members with mastery 1, it would increase the STR by 1 and number of shots by 10. And if a Librarian with mastery 2/3 it would be heavy 6 STR 10/D respectively..
Trick is that each time you fire this main gun, you would have to take a psychic test, and risk perils..
Other weaponry would include all of the GK special weapons or their heavy counterparts, so that either the weapon is twin linked or heavy- version..
All other vehicle wargear from C:GK would be available as upgrade, or already present..
What do you think, for what chassis could be best used for that kind of concept, and how would you see the maingun looking?
(And how do you think of this overall? :) )
/Edit
Other option would be to give it base strenght (7-8), Rending, and AP4, and allow the psychic mastery level to lower the AP value..
And the main reason for me to tag along on this thread: Those are awesome models and even better conversions :) ..One of my favourite thing in 40k are the super-heavies (got only couple of them myself tho), yet the concept of them are just so damn addicting :)
Keep up the awesome work!

Buggrit: Thanks for posting those pics. They look awesome!
Wildcard: Thanks for the ideas. I do plan to make a GK Fellblade at some point. I'll probably base it on my Lance variant with a lot of psycannons, incinerators, and the like but I want to have something unique for the main cannon.
How about this as a mega Dreadknight: http://dreamforge-games.com/modelscusader.html

You know they make giant stainless steel gatling gun barrels for hobby purposes. you could make that into a sort of super psycannon.

@Machinator: You know, i actually thought that model at some point, yet the "sword" and generic gatling gun turned that option down (It would need something like Nemesis Greatsword, and a ranged weapon something more suited for GK theme..)
Model itself (Torso, legs and head) would be pure gold as a GK Titan / Gargantuan Nemesis DreadKnight :D

Thank you! Now I'm deciding if maybe I want to build a Broadsword instead (without sponsons) and try to work that into White Scar history. Or just talk the person running the apoc. game into allowing the Warmaul as a Stormhammer (just change "Marine" to "Imperial Guard" in every reference)

Well it's been a long time since I've updated this thread but I finally had some free time to work on my own stuff. So I've started work on three new weapons that people have been asking me about for a long time now: The heavy flame thrower/thermal cannon and the plasma cannon. So here we go....
The flamethrower/thermal cannon will actually be sold together in the same kit and will be interchangeable with the weapon mount. The kit will consist of the shrouded mantle, two weapon mounts, and a set each of the flamethrower and thermal cannons.

There still quite a bit of detail work needed such as vents and hoses for the weapon shroud and the igniter under the flame thrower cannon but it's coming along.
Next up is the plasma cannon that will be integral to the Dark Angels Fellblade when I return to working on that beast. I wanted to give the plasma coils more of a caged glass look so I added the ribs in-between. I also added a few design elements from my Tank Dynamos to the plasma cannon nozzle as the two are meant to go together on the model. I also plan to add a new plasma Tank Engine, which will also go on the DA fellblade.

With the upcoming Feast of Blade tournament I was asked if I could once again supply a prize and of course I said yes. It's not often I get to build up something cool for a good cause. But what to build?
Well a Fellblade naturally, but not just any Fellblade. It was time to introduce something new. So without further ado, here it is:

So as you can see the Tank Engine 2 (plasma engine) and Nova Cannon (plasma cannon) will soon be new entries into my store. They still need a few tweaks before production but both should be available by the end of the month.
Of course with the release of these components I can perhaps restart a old neglected project just in time for the release of their long awaited codex....

As most of you know now Games Workshop and Forge World have released official rules for the Space Marine Fellblade super-heavy tank in the Horus Heresy: Betrayal book. The Fellblade is now canon and it puts the rules and history of my "Fellblades" into a lurch. So time for something new....
After much thought I've decided that the best way for me to proceed would be to throw out the “Fellblade” name and stick with what I original envisioned my super-heavy to be, a predecessor to the Baneblade. They will still go by their variant names but all can be traced back to an original chassis now called the Glaive. The modified rules and histories will predate the introduction of the official Fellblade into the 40K universe and will also explains why it replaced them and why some are still around today.
So I give you my "re-envisioned" rules for the Glaive super-heavy tank and its variants:
The Glaive:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BwtHo3MTNiIBNXJ6N2ZtZVlNSzA
The Broadsword:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BwtHo3MTNiIBMUh3X0ZjVFZiSTQ
The Ignitus:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BwtHo3MTNiIBbm1tUmJMbjRNbXM
The Warmaul:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BwtHo3MTNiIBQXlaUkxkR0JwRDg
The Lance:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0BwtHo3MTNiIBYTlUSHVvOWo4dkE
Feedback and criticism is very much welcomed. I would very much like to hear what you like, don't like, and what needs to be fixed.
Also, if any of you have pics or names of your Glaives or Glaive variants that you’d like incorporated into these datasheets please let me know. This is very much a community project now.
Thanks everyone!

As many of you know I started a flamethrower/thermal cannon around the same time as my Nova Cannon but it sadly fell to the wayside as I wasn't liking how it turned out. But after some revisions it has now emerged like a gun toting phoenix of doom!

Well, the Brotherhood of Fire chapter Space Marines need one of those! They have all ready liberated a Baal Predator wreck from a Blood Angels battlefield; I'm sure that the Ignitus would have been a gift from their predecessor chapter, the Imperial Fists, more suiting the Brotherhood's style of siegecraft than their own...
Just a shame I won't be in Memphis so will have to buy one instead!

This has nothing to do with tanks but is another prize for the Big Game III I thought you guys would like to see. It's three of my Thunder Assault Speeders with space marines mounted on Dragon Forge's 40 mm x 75 mm Ancient Ruins base. And yes, I know the right shoulder pad is missing. That's so the winner can customize it to their chapter if they wish.

Well in my quest to never leave good enough alone I decided to go back to my old Light Turret and do a redesign. Now not only does it look much cooler (in my opinion) but it also has inserts for 1/8 inch diameter magnets and it has the option of either using a 1/8 inch mounting post or a 1 inch mounting ring, which will make it compatible with certain kits.

Now usually this is the time where I begin the painting process but I decided to do things a little different this time. It’s been a long while since I’ve picked up a paint brush and I really wanted this one to be done perfectly. Luckily enough my friend Tommy Clark Munkey-Joe offered his services so it is off to him for a snazzy coat of paint.
But there’s more!
With the holidays coming up I thought it would be in the spirit of the season to give a little something back to the community. So I’ve decided that this item will go up for auction with ALL of the money raised going to Toys for Tots just in time for Christmas! I’ll even cover the shipping cost. Not only will be fun but it will be going towards a great cause as well.
So keep your eyes peeled for details!

Still, pintle mounted assault cannon. Awesome!

The Angelus Redemptor’s service to the Dark Angels Legion can be traced back to the later days of the Great Crusade where it served as the command vehicle of their elite armored company known as the Ironwing. Constructed by the Legion’s techmarines under the gaze of the Mechanicum this super-heavy tank was fitted with a unique dual chambered plasma reactor that could not only power the machine’s main drive indefinitely but could also be tapped to provide munitions for its vast array of plasma based weaponry. However, in the chaotic aftermath of the Horus Heresy the Angelus Redemptor disappeared from the Imperial records and it was feared lost to the Mechanicum, until now….
At long last it is here, rolling from the forges of Blood & Skulls Industry and expertly painted by Tommy Clark “Munkey Joe” (https://www.facebook.com/MunkeyJoePaintsAndCastings) I present to you the Dark Angels very own super-heavy tank: The Angelus Redemptor! Based on the Baneblade plastic kit this tank is loaded with tons of resin parts from Blood & Skulls Industry and Games Workshop plastic bits making it one huge custom model that would be the centerpiece of any Dark Angel army. Gothic, mysterious, and armed with more plasma weapons then you can shake a Sword of Secrets at this machine of war truly has a place alongside the sons of Lion El’Johnson on the battlefield. And now it can be yours!
The Angelus Redemptor is now available for auction on eBay but the story does not end there! In keeping with the holiday spirit 100% of the money raised from this auction will go to Toys for Tots, and I’ll even cover the shipping. So be your own angel astartes to the children in need this season and place a bid today!

Well I'm back and just in time for another Toys for Tots project!
This time around I will be tackling a super-heavy for the Space Wolves once again based on the Baneblade kit, a number of my own specialty parts, some plasticard and more bits than you can shake a stick at (Go fetch Russ! Woof! Woof!).
First up is the turret and main weapon, currently called the Helfrost Annihilator. This was basically made from two of the main cannons from the Stormfang kit mounted side by side on one of my Heavy Tank Turrets with a bit of plasticard in between. I also used some of the helfrost cannons in the small hull turret up front.

The track sections are using my Oppressor Pattern 1.0 Tank Tracks (seemingly appropriate for the Space Wolves) along with a bunch of bits from the SW kits, Forge World and plasticard.

Those tracks are absolutely absurd, but just so right for this project. And I'd not seen that Dark Angels tank before. The huge, curved sponsons look significantly better than I thought they would. Or should. Good work!

Now it will be sent off to our friend Tommy Clark Munkey-Joe for a coat of paint. The plan after that is to put it up for auction in December with 100% of the winning bid going to Toys for Tots!

How about:
Niflheim – Is a realm of primordial Ice and Cold, one of the nine worlds in Norse mythology.
Hrimthusar – Frost Giants
Jotun seems a good name. (But I shudder at the sight of frost weapons. The GW guy that came up with that deserves to have a salmon slapped in his face.)

Beautiful model but I can't help feeling a little sad seeing all those wolf tails hanging off it. I count at least 16 of them. For a group that love wolves as much as the Space Wolves do, that's a lot of dead dogs.
I kinda like the idea of Cryo Weaponry, it's very sci-fi. I might be rather biased though as I'm a big fan of the DC Comics villains Killer Frost, Mister Freeze and Captain Cold. I don't like the idea of it being exclusive to the Space Wolves though as that doesn't make sense in the context of 40k. I mean the Adeptus Mechanicus and Blood Angels don't get on due to the BA's hoarding of the Baal STC, so why do the Wolves get a pass for keeping a type of tech all to themselves, especially when the Imperium has other ice worlds, like Valhalla.

Fear not, I'm sure these are vat grown wolves that never achieve consciousness before they are slaughtered, skinned, and deboned to decorate Space Wolf armor, weapons, and tanks :)

you forget, there are no wolves on Fenris...lol. Besides, with as many wolves who accompany and are ridden into battle with the Sons of Russ, I'm sure there are ample pelts/tails to be had, as a sign of respect for their fallen furry brethren.
