So I was checking out Reaper Miniatures, looking at some of their models and I came across a Dire Bear.

When I saw this I pictured my Lord riding proudly on his back crashing into close combat. Why a bear?
I normally take Saga of the Bear(I like my lord to be an eternal warrior) and I figured I would be the only person with a Wolf Lord mounted on a bear! So I went to my local games store to order the model and turns out they had one in stock so I bought it. I am currently working on it and hopefully I will have some pics up soon after I finish my Shadowsword Super-Heavy. Tell me what you think! Comments appreciated!

I like the idea maybe you could give it some armour or cybernetics to make it look more space marine. Like a cybernetic eye, or a metal plate on his skull, or if you can a Bionic BEAR CLAW!!!

That’s a nice looking bear. I am looking forward to seeing how it turns out.

Thanks for the suggestions.
I am feeling that Bear Claw!!!! idea. Armour plates and bionics are gonna be a definite.
Im thinking of doing something similar of what Fangir has the shoulder and hip guards and some bionic limbs showing through the skin.

So I've been working on the Thunderbear...

1. Removed the bear from its original base
2. Fixed the broken left rear foot and made it bionic
3. Bulked it up by green stuffing more fur
4. Positioned the bear climbing on rocks
5. Added bionic eye(used parts from the scope out of the space marine tactical squad box)
6. Positioned the rider and added a cloth for him to sit on
7. Made reigns out of chain and attached them to the jaw
8. Green stuffed armour plates to the shoulders and ankles

This is what I've got done, sorry no pics yet. (I have to borrow a camera to take some good pics:mad:)

Will put up pics of the pre-primed model at the same time as the finished product.

Im excited to see how this one turns out! I like the idea of adding fur to bulk him up he did seem skimpy.

Looks awesome dude, Id only suggest that since the armour plates look drilled into the bear have some hair kind of flowing over them. But really nice work sir.

That's undeniably badass. Now you need to use those bear minis to make thunder bear cavalry.

After all, nothing says victory like bear cavalry!

Thanks, I thought so too! The only problem is that there is only one dire bear!
I think this may be the one and only Thunderbear Rider. :(

Thanks for the post.

Those bears are great! If I have no other options then I may use those but I would rather convert my own.
