Beautifully done. Got me craving some plastic crack to have a go at as well. :D

Nice job - the Stormblade is not too overloaded with chaotica symbols and the colorsheme supports the dekoration. IŽwant to be in the role of the driver - whos head shows up near the main gun, could get some heat there:eek:

IŽll always liked the chaos-spined beast but even so i think it is too expensive. Beside this the paintjob is okay and - i assume - a little bit nurglish.

Thanks for the comments.

Yeah, the driver definitely would want to go buttoned up before they fully charge and then fire that main gun! We were kidding around about that while I was painting this at the store the other day. Over the past few years I've had the chance to paint with John Shaffer quite a bit at the now extinct local Battle Bunker. He has a Renegade Stormblade with the driver poking out next to the main gun, though his is the earlier all resin kit while mine is the Arkurian Pattern hybrid kit. Anyway, there was something about the look of the creepy crewman poking his head out next to the gun that really caught my imagination, so when I decided to do a Chaos Stormblade of my own I just had to stick a crewman in the same spot. Unlike the all resin Forge World Stormblade the Arkurian pattern version with the plastic Baneblade chassis has no well to stick the crewman into, so I had to prop him up from below in what is just an empty space. I felt it was worth the extra little bit of effort, the creepy crewmen add a lot of character to the model.

To answer the question of cost, the Arkurian Pattern Stormblade is a bit expensive, but not as bad as the all resin kit. This hybrid kit was about $170 a couple years ago when I bought it at the Maryland Battle Bunker shortly after it was released. Actually, I bought a 3-pack of Arkurian tanks that had a slight, really slight, price break on it. The other two tanks from that purchase comprise my Mechanicus Stormblade and Mechanicus Shadowsword. They can be seen at this link (http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/images-13937-4041_39th%20Cadian%20Imperial%20Guard.html).

Regarding the Giant Spined Chaos Beast, it's one of those models that I liked a little but not enough to buy at full price. However, I spotted this one sitting in a flea market bin at a Bizarre Bazaar event several months ago. It had some broken spines and tusks, was really badly based and had a partial paint job with a lot of green on it. Since the person who owned it had gotten it that way free and had no attachment to it he wasn't looking for much for it. We're also friendly acquaintances since he used to work at the store where the flea market took place. I was able to trade just a few blisters his wife wanted in exchange for it, so the net cost to me in this case was some blisters I bought years ago for probably around $21. After that I cut it off the incredibly undersized chariot base it was stuck on, remounted it on a large oval base, repaired the broken bits and then gave it a full paint job. I feel pretty good about rescuing this broken and neglected model and turning it into something to be enjoyed. As you inferred, I did intend the paint scheme to suggest Nurgle. This year I've been experimenting with Nurgle schemes that don't use green much and I've grown to really like the one I've cooked up using Desert Yellow as the base instead.

There's a large "Invading The Eye Of Terror" event at my local GW this coming Saturday in Annapolis, MD. I've offered to supply some of the crazy Chaos stuff others are unlikely to be able to bring in support of the event. Both of these newly painted models will be fielded alongside my three Brass Scorpions, Tower of Skulls, Slaughterfiend Bloodpact and more. More of my Chaos creations are visible in my Gallery (http://www.dakkadakka.com/gallery/user/13937-BrassScorpion.html).

for some reason the yellow scheme reminds me of Hellboy. Always thought the beasts were of the Nurgle type...

oh, awesome. :)

I don't paint very well, so I like to 'window shop' everyone else!
