Cobra's pre-heresy World Eaters WIP

Here are a few shots of some finished and WIP pre-Heresy World Eaters in my (very) small but growing force. I'll be playing them with Blood Angels rules. I'm not a huge stickler for exact PH armor types, as you can see - I mostly just wanted to go for an "archaic" look, but also wanted them to not look like CSMs with a different color scheme. And yes, I know the bases still need to be finished...

Not that anybody seems to care, but..

Lodgemaster Vess, in all his glory. He will count-as Astorath on the tabletop. This will be the most obviously chaotic model in the force (heck, he's got a Khorne symbol on his right shoulder pad,) which makes sense due to his position as Lodgemaster. He has been charged by Erebus, with Angron's approval, to spread the worship of Khorne through the XII'th Legion.

@ Herald of Nurgle: The lack of Forgeworld is a direct result of lack of funds. I'll be happy to spend as much on FW as you are willing to contribute! ;)

That said, I did actually just place a FW order last week, so an added degree of canon PH accuracy is on the way..

I don't find the lack of FW items at all a put off. Your conversions are well done and unique. Gives a big props back to the days when there weren't all the companies out there with alternate bitz to use and we were all forced to convert our minis staight from the GW catalog solely. Great work and keep those pics comin'!

I think the speeder looks a little too bulky. Personnal opinion though, and all the new bits are fantastically painted as always, so a fairly minor complaint. keep up the good work :)

This is how you do a Pre-Heresy army using rational and applicable rules.

Looks really great dude. The blood stains all look really natural, too. Are you flicking them on with a brush, or straight painting em on?

Also: Would you mind explaining the dog on the dread?

The blood is Tamiya Clear Red, stippled on with a raggedy old brush. I find I can control it a little better that way (as opposed to flicking) and get some good "splash" effect.

The dog is a link between the "Warhounds" aspect of the World Eaters Legion, and the classic Chaos World Eaters banner which had a snarling red hound biting into a world (see below)

Thre point source lighting on the librarian has come out really well, as has the banner. This army is getting better all the time.

Thanks! To answer your question - they havn't fallen (fully) to Khorne yet. I'm trying to set these guys immediately pre-Isstvan, so although there is some definite chaos worship in the form of the warrior lodge, there are also still bonafide Loyalists in the army as well. Also, the fluff states that the World Eaters did have librarians prior to their fall to Khorne, since they specifically hunted down and murdered all their Librarians once they turned.
