Old stuff - to sell or not to???

Hey guys

I am having my usual wrestle with whether or not to sell some stuff. I have 1st Ed Genestealer, DeathWing, Space Hulk. Also Space Crusade and both mission boxes. Most crucially, Space Fleet and a raft of ships.

The reason I consider this? with the exception of Space hulk, it has been years since I played with these bad boys. I would not spend my rare hours that I concentrate on painting, on painting something for these games.

The question - do I try and sell as one lot, for all these systems? Or do I break it down? What is reasonable, I have seen 1st ed space hulk go for £140 with both expansions on Ebay, I can currently see a Tyrant battleship for Space Fleet on ebay, going for £19.99!! These used to be £3.99!

How long should I stow stuff for just for nostalgia, yes I can afford the space and I don't hugely need the money - I'd probably drink it or buy more plastic crack to sit around for my latest whim. But, should I dilute the poor few hours we can scrape off the respective memsahibs, playing ancient gamesystems, that my group doesn't have minis for (ie space ships, Hybrids, Space Crusade weapons changing things), and that I would have to explain the rules to?

Any thoughts from others would be appreciated, especially about selling whole collections or not.

PS please don't advise me to fund DE with the proceeds I've never been much of a bandwagoner - the last 'new' army i went for was Space Wulluffs, and then only cos I had 30+ metal 2ed minis sitting around in one of my dragon hoards...

I recycle old stuff I don't need anymore all the time on ebay with good luck generally. The older sets, if you can get near enough to complete, I would throw them up for sale individually and maximize what you can get from them. Incomplete, I would part it out (some sets will get more parted out, but generally, with GW games, I've not seen that happen much). Ihad some older Tyranid Attack parts, and got good money for them, but not nearly as much as if they were complete. If you're not attached to them, and you need/want the money, GW stuff always generally sells well, whther it's on ebay or on boards like this.

In my opinion from a buyer point of view sell the old complete or near complete systems as a unit the buyer will appreciate not having to bid on multiple items and perhaps loosing some incomplete system's sell the bits separate.

There is no doubt if you sell all as individual parts you will get more cash and perhaps get stuck with unwanted items but hobby wise it pains me to see older systems sold in bits to be scattered across the void I sold Gorka Morka and Battlefleet Gothic as complete systems mainly because I like to see other gamers get a playable system to enjoy like I did and most times you recoup your original cost. On the other hand it doesn't stop the new buyer splitting it up to make money. I just see it as a hobby to enjoy rather than a money making enterprise.

Space Hulk and Spave crusade can go for a lot of money if they're complete (In Australia anyway). I remember about 6 years ago buying a copy of space crusade and the expansion for $15 and selling it for $120 15 minutes later.
