I could be completely wrong on this, but doesn't the final pic in the "What's New Today" for Sept 29 look like the Ravager is in the background? It looks like there is a sort of side cockpit or something. I could be completely off base though. Can anyone confirm if this is true or not?

Good catch, I think you're right.

Well spotted! Looks pretty sweet.

Yeah, it looks like the gun-pod type emplacement on the front of the Raider, just hanging off the side. I was hoping for something a little more to distinguish the Ravagers from the Raiders, but it's still pretty sweet.

Edit: Also- "Here's a final shot of the Raider with a squad of Warriors alongside; note that they are not allowed on the Raider until they remove their slottabases."

I lol'd.

Not only that but the "sails" seem to be different and the overall outline too, although the latter could be down to the background being out of focus.

I'd be surprised if they changed the overall frame of the model much, but you're definitely right about the sail being bigger; it has 3 segments instead of 2.

The outline looks different because there are no guys hanging off it (another indication that it's not a raider).

The Ravager simply has no "hangers" and the added weapon platforms on the side(if you look closely). I didn't exspect too much of a difference in the Raider and Ravager myself, like the Wave Serpent and Falcon.

If you look closely at the rear blade/fin its also different from the raider.

Its seems to be the same base chassis but with different extras.

Looks like the whole second sprue of the raider is being replaced. In theory that should point to a smaller difference in price between raider and ravager if there are the same number of sprues, but don't hold your breath.

Definitely has some structural distinctions, I like the platforms on the sides. The new models are just freaking great! I was thinking about starting Eldar in the not too distant future but now!

I’m thinking I might pick up a few Dark Eldar models and see if I like them enough to take the plunge!

I wonder if it'll end up being like the Predator or Sky Ray box... a full raider, with the Ravager "upgrade sprue" tossed in.

I would bet it will be, it makes sense.. But then again, it is GW

lets just hope its not £35 but more like £15-20

It should be, it is all plastic so it should be in line with other all plastic vehicles of similar size.

Oh, and yes that is a ravager in the background.

I doubt GW will drop the price of the ravager, which is a shame.

Well one would hope they are consistently priced with other races HS tanks, so £27-£30. Along the same line I would hope the Raider is around £20.

The current price for a raider is £20 and £35 for a ravager, I honestly can't see GW charging less for the new models than they do for the old ones.

I'm fairly certain they dropped the price on the old metal hybrid Leman Russ variants when they came out in all-plastic, didn't they? If it is out of line with other races heavy support slots that really is annoying.

I think Eldargal is right, the current inflated ravager price is a result of the metal price rises a while ago when the price of tin went up (at least that was their excuse). I believe that the Eldar fire prism also dropped in price when it went from plastic and metal to all plastic.

I would therefore expect prices to be in the region of the following:

Raider £20/$30
Ravager £30/$45

We can hope but this soon out of a recession I just can't see them dropping the price on anything. Plus as the only truely viable heavy support option for DE they can charge pretty much what they like and people will pay it.

Out of the Recession? What country do you live in, because i know it isn't the US, lol.

Even out of a recession they won't drop the price on anything. As long as people are willing to pay it then they have no reason to.

As far as I know Graet Britain is not out of recession either. If it is you wouldn't know it.

Not true, they reoutienly drop prices on new plastic kits that were previously metal, and hybrids, for a recent example see Dragon Princes, White Lions and Phoenix Guard. All cheaper now. I can't think of any 40k examples, though I'm sure the old metal hybrid IG tanks were more expensive thanthe new plastics.

Oh, I just meant they won't drop prices on kits currently out. New kits, sure, but if they did a price increase on a Space Marine Tactical Squad then they probably won't drop the price on that until they release a new kit. I don't really count new kits as price drops, though, because while it is the same unit game wise, it is a completely new product as far as business is concerned. New kit, new price that is appropriate.
