Dark Eldar Pictures from Games Day 2010

I heard that the weird glowing yellow guys around the archon's feet are mandrakes, not sure of there will be new model for them, wasn't on display.

I heard that the archon's cube doubles his strength if he can kill an independent character or monstrous creature. Archon has WS, BS & I 7 stats, but most of the rest are 3 S, T, W.

The incubi are quite cool, I like the way they hold their weapons in two hands in two different ways (lose the horns though:p). Didn't see their codex entry.

The raider definitely has sail options. I didn't see the ravager but I can't see them not doing the model nowe that they have the new chassis. No Hellions on display either.

Looks like the reavers are coming in boxes of three, with a choice of four canopies. They appear to have some hit and run attacks where theyt pass a unit inflicting damage without entering combat. still only a T4, 5+ armour value, and can turbo boost 36".

Loking good, they are very dynamic. Could also make good harlequins with a bit of conversion if you are resolutely anti-metal.

Oh thank Baby Lelith, there are helmets for Reaver pilots. I hope there are enough so they can all be helmeted. Feminine females, truly Dark Eldar are entering a golden age.

I'm pretty sure I herad Phil Kelly say that Wyches were moving to the troop slot (makes sense with a new plastic kit and fifth edition troop focus) and that they can be upgraded with special close combat weapons.

And finally a design pic of lelith, who looks very athletic but I think could do with some more hero scale knives. I'm hoping that they keep the old lelith model available aswell (going to see if I can get one, just in case) as it would make a good unit champion.

I like the faceless design, but not the neck guards. There are un helmeted heads on the sprue and, of course, it shouldn't be hard to find some spare warrior heads.

I will admit I am not nearly as blown away as I thought I would be. They're quite well done, but I was expecting my jaw to drop. I guess their recent lines have ruined it for me. Too much good stuff this year and last.

Any news on stats/rules/etc?

Pretty sure that the special characters weren't listed, I'm sure I heard the Incubui special character mentioned though, drahzar?.

They only brought one copy of the codex pages they did have so it was tough to get hold of. :mad::mad::mad:

One page I do remember:

Ravagers only AV 11 11 10 but can fire all three dark lances at cruising speed (couple that with fast and... I need to read my rulebook again, but I think it should allow them to go 12" and fire all three weapons, bye bye land raider).

There were several upgrades for reaver jetbikes that inflict different numbers of S3/4/6 hits on units when doing their 'drive by' attack. There was half a page of description about this, so I can't remember the details.

Will be interested to see if the reavers get to be troops like Eldar or fast attack. 36" turbo boost suggests the latter.

Woha the new DE Minis are very great! Except the Incubi and the horned Archon - they are too fantasy. I like the new raiders too, looks like jabbas ship in Star Wars. Looks like it can easy be converted into fantasy-barks for invasion-scenarios for the wfb-DE.

The old Jetbikes are definitly better than the knew ones. These don´t fit with the round-design of the raiders, they are to edgy - look like Necs. Witches and Warriors are very nice! Witches habe too much clothing (somtimes i hope they will make versions for europe and usa seperate) i like to see more skin on them.

Cover looks great too - hopefuly we get shiny rules, that will last a minimum of 10 years;)

I´ll restock my DE force with new models - perhaps make a small force out of them seperatly.

This looks like an absolutely amazing release. I'm not jumping on this release and creating a new army because I'm already swamped with projects, but I'm definitely buying and painting some of those models.

I'm thinking of swapping the sails on two kits so I have two pairs, reversing their direction and using two sails as some sort of rear fins, but I'll have to wait until the kit arrives in November :(.

So I was talking with Phill for a while and this is what I know:

Mandreaks are shadow bit chaos thing that eats souls and glow green(you on cover)
New character former DE queen..and Vects wive....after he dump her, she started planning revange on him.

This is about rules ect.
Power from Pain- After destroying non-vehicle unit, DE gets on winners pain token.
One token on unit and DE have FnP
2 on and FC
3 on and fearless
Tokens are cumulative and rule army wide.


Reavers inflicts impact hits on units they fly trough. D3 S3 for each bike, with some options to improve.
Incubi are very simmilar to aspect warriors; exarch witch special powers and wepons....(i recall one with Preffered enemy).
Wyches have 3 diffrent wych weapons.....look nice.
Archon have new retinue of some nasty bodyguards, incubi ale elite mercenaries now.
Ravager can shoot al three lances on cruising speed.

Think thats it. Sounds like fun....

The new raiders are absolutely beautiful in person. Elegant, exotic, wonderful. I hated how blocky and flying-wedge the old ones were, and they were the main reason I never wanted to play DE. But these new ones are tempting me...

And yes, they are indeed a bit reminiscent of Jabba's sail barges...

I LOVE the sails. I saw that giant "shark fin" on the previously released artwork and have been thinking to myself, "well, no matter how good the models are, I'll be removing that big fin." Now that I realize they are sails and I've seen them modeled and painted up, I LOVE it. I am just super excited about this release.

Solar sails are not without precedent for Eldar forces, all their big ships have them in BFG. I like them, personally.

Already was planning on it, but now I think I'm gonna be replacing all my old Raiders. This makes me a sad (or at least poor) Archon.

Ohhhhhh! That's No'akei, the Daughter of Pain! Awesome! ^-^

She was the leader of the Dark Eldar forces during the 'The Fall of Medusa V' campaign a few years back, but she first appeared in White Dwarf 241 January 2000 as "Vect's personal champion" and "leader of Vect's ground-based forces". Apparently, she fell out of favour with Vect, and was banished from Commorragh for an unknown reason. She tried to overthrow Vect by gaining prestige from Medusa V in the Dark Eldar way: by capturing slaves, but she was betrayed by her commanders before she could complete her coup.

She sounds like she has the potential to become a really interesting character. =D

I do hope it is No'akei, she was never mentioned as Vect's cocubine before. But it isn't unlikely a prominent and ambitious commander would try and get her hands on Vect's Dark Lance to help her on her way to power. A model would be nice, too, whether is No'akei or not.:)

Yeah, she was only mentioned as his personal bodyguard and protector, not as a wife/concubine, either of which would obviously put her in the closest position to Vect.

I always thought of the Drachon model as No'akei, and after Dawn of War: Soulstorm, I always think of the Archon model as Tarhil. =)

I love the new sculpts. The make over is incredible. Lets hope the codex is equal to the task with out excessive creep.

Over all though, it makes me want to start my 7th Warhammer 40k Army! I might just branch out a little more now that I've see the new Dark Eldar! I really love the reavers!! So much coolness there that’s its bordering on ridiculous
