I recently finished a commission to paint up some Aurora Chapter space marines.

I've always thought that there was a lot of character in the secondary space marine chapters- they could be similar to one of the big five, but they always have just a little hint of fluff for you to work off of.

Anyway, here are some termiantors:

Those are beautiful! And I thnk that the scorpion green eye lenses still pop, and further I think that another high contrast color might look weird. But I can seee that the eyes don't pop as much as they would were it not green on green.

all in all though WOW! Very nice.

Did you use any Inks or Washes?

Did you use any Inks or Washes?

I tend to create my own washes by thinning down paints, rather than using the pre-thinned washes Citadel now makes. For example, the weathering was done with a thinned brown color that creates this look.

You can do quite a bit more by thinning colors than you can if you're sticking to pre-thinned washes.

Looking good, the green is good and solid. All round very nice. I agree with the lenses though, and would also add some script to the scrolls and purity seals.

Anyway, I thought about starting up a new topic for the Land Raider, but figured I could just put it here too:

The land raider is really really nice looking except for one thing the hvy bolters and the twin assault cannons would make the raider that much more better looking if they were drilled out, just my two bolter rounds tho.

I agree with the above, drilling makes a big difference. Great paintjob though, nice weathering.

Thanks for the criticism.

I still find it strange that I run into so many people online who feel very strongly about drilling out bolter barrels. Really, that's because when I do it, people around here look at me like I'm crazy.

Anyway, thanks for the input. Assault cannons are hell to drill, though.

It's not that I feel strongly about it, it's just that if I were judging a comp and it came down to you and another for the award, I would start to look at the small details such as that to be the deciding factor. As the old saying goes "the devil is in the details". Just my two bolter rounds worth tho.

That's fair. To be perfectly honest, this is a work I did for a commission, and unless I'm doing my very highest quality, I do sometimes miss some details.

By the way, here is the Forgefather of the Aurora chapter. Yes, he's on a bike, and the weapon on his back is my interpretation of a conversion beamer (based roughly on the look of some of the old 'beamers.

There's quite a bit of green stuff on him- he started life as a normal marine on bike.

I'll have to experiment with making my own washes. Do you add anything to the paint other than just water?

Love the weathering on the Raider!

Makes me want to step up my game.

Nice work
