Harry on Warseer has stated that the "winging its way" was a reference to Black Templars. Link (http://www.warseer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=275079&page=6)
Looks like it wont be this year though.

That was infact a referance to the upcoming GK codex. (When I say upcoming I mean 5 years down the line.....)

He said he was expecting BT by this time, but he was wrong.

...at the time I was expecting them this year
Implying that he no longer expects them to be too soon, just one of the several codices that may or may not get updated after the DE/GK/Necron cycle is through:
[GK, DE, Necrons] are the ones I have heard more about. But I am pretty sure that their is work in progress for a couple of others. Tau included.

Sigh...
I guess I would rather wait for a good redux than a rush job.
For now we fight! (with the best smoke launchers in the game!) (and the crappiest Storm shields!)

Eh, I can see that. One of the major symbols for Black Templars is a skull over a templar cross with angel's wings.
Much as I'd like it to be true I doubt it, though. Late next year at the earliest.

Late next year at the earliest.
Right.
I will, however, point out that we don't have very much information on what's happening in the long term, so it is possible that BT will get an update late next year. It's just that we haven't heard anything about it, really, and so at this point anything that far out is pure speculation on our part.

Right, and it would put it on track to be the next one in the lineup assuming it goes:
Dark Eldar > Grey Knights > Necrons > Black Templars.
It fits the 1, 2, 1, 2 theme.

They aren't quite the crappiest Storm Shield. That privilege belongs to the Daemon Hunters who can only claim the 4+ invuln save against 1 model per turn in close combat. Dark Angels share your level of Storm Shield-iness too.

I hope thats not the order. We've got 3 new shiny marine codices already. I'd rather see the Sisters in that slot or failing that an updated Eldar or Tau codex. Chaos Marines, Dark Angels and Black Templars can get updated last to have a good selling year leading into the next edition.
Of course we know little to nothing beyond the next I think. I strongly suspect Necrons to be after GK, but I recall nothing definite.

AH, I had forgotten that Grey knights were worse off in that department, thanks!
And so filled with new vigor and HOPE! WE MARCH TO VICTORY!

Welll...
Space Marines, Imperial Guard, Space Wolves, Tyranids, Blood Angels, Dark Eldar, Grey Knights, Necrons...

How does "winging it" aply to BT?

Its a figure of speech 'winging its way' means it is coming. Why on earth people think this mean't it was a fleet based army I will never know. It would be like GW saying 'plastic female IG are in the pipeline' and people thinking it mean't a subterranean sewer ruleset would be coming with it.

Talking with Studio people, the timeframe for minis range refit (and vehicles) it's right now about 2 years. Take a look on the production time on the sprues for a clue. As example Tom Waltom told me, the new Fire prism was delivered two year ago for production release. So the rules a,re make/tested on that timeframe. Also told me, we must be prepared for non-IG big kits in the NEAR future (do no expect plastic THawk).
The rumours reach the pipes, within a year of the release, until now not a word about BT or DA.

Really, BT are fine mini wise. Out upgrade kit is nice. At most I'd want to see new models for the new special characters sure to come with the new codex. Still, really just need a new rule book. Don't need an entire new model line or anything like Dark Eldar.

Well, it's actually quite obvious; BT like to use lots of swords. The crossguard of a sword protrudes like a set of wings. Thus, 'winging its way".
