Hello,

I am looking to do some commission work.

Basically, I love to paint models. I usually get jokes from my friends who say I should try and paint models for money, and after some of the kind compliments I have gotten about some of the armies I have traded (eldar in particular), I have decided to give this a go. I have also recently started posting on my local forums for this topic, and at the behest of some other members they recommended that I try to advertise on other sites. I also had an experience with a painting service who I felt didnt do that great of job for what I paid, (you know, like $1100) so that has also helped sparked my interest in this.

Since I have no background or credibility, I intend to just try and gain some legitimacy and make some extra money for school/ more models.

Anyways, here is what I offer. Much like other painting services, I have am adopting a "level" system. Here is an explanation of what they include, price and some (horrid) pics of what that level would look like. Like I said the pics are terrible, and only have the models that I still own (after trading/selling the others) and i apologize for the additional background cluter (too much stuff to keep in a dorm) (I also had to delete a few images to meet the four image requirement)

Level 1: $3 per model - basic block colors, basic shading and highlighting (i cant stand not highlighting every model I paint.)

Level 2: $4.50 per model- same as level 1, but with some more highlights, shading and colors.

Level 3: $5.50 per model- even more detail, some (very) basic freehand and the like (wish I still had my eldar for this)

Like I said, I hope to paint whole units/ armies rather than just a few models at a time, though that is fine as well. Vehicles/ larger models will follow a similar guidline, but will be a bit more expensive. Also, I can assemble your models (not too well for a small fee. Basing is something I am not too interested in, mainly due to lack of sufficient materials, but if you want some (bad) bases I can use what I have, or you can supply your own material and I will further reduce the cost of basing. The only other thing i ask is that if you want a particular color that I do not own, you would have to supply it.

My original intent was to keep this local, but after some recomendations I have branched out to a wider span. As such, shipping costs will have to be worked out per comission.

If you are interested, plese pm me, email me at [email protected]. My name is Sean McCarthy. I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you.

I think it is great that people are going out and trying make a little extra money doing commissions. I can't understand why people wouldn't want to paint their own armies, but to each their own.

That being said, I think that your advertising could use some work. To be brutally honest, the pictures you provided don't inspire a great deal of confidence in the product you are offering (in my opinion). I can't tell a discernible difference between any of the levels of painting. All of them look to be of ok quality. The lack of basing is a pretty substantial issue as well. Basing with sand and couple layers of dry brushing can really bring a model together.

Anyways, hope this give you something to think about going forward!

edit: I would also think about doing a bit better job on your photography. There models could be mind destroyingly wonderful, but without a proper pic or two I would have no idea. Right now they are too big and washed out for me to tell what is going on.
